Every authority states unequivocally that fall is the best time to seed, preferably in September after the months of hottest weather and when there is a good moisture condition. If you seed in the fall the grass will thrive, but, nevertheless, the heaviest sales of seed are in the spring. If you do seed in spring, start as early as the weather permits so that there will be good root growth started before hot weather sets in.

Now that you have read about your family considerations, I have included some more thoughts on planning your garden. Although winter may not be the best time to spend time in your garden, working in your yard can still be exciting on a nice sunny day. It gets us out when we normally would stay indoors. Pruning trees, keeping up with our ponds and dreaming of new changes are always great-spirit lifters in the deep, dark of winter! Plan your Garden-Family Considerations

Your garden will serve many purposes throughout your life. I know mine has. It might serve as a retreat from your daily pressures. A great reward for your hard work and efforts. Or simply, your garden is a place where you can relax and enjoy your family and your home. For many of us, myself included, time spent within the garden is as close to perfect as I can get.
